This apocalyptic self-portrait features several of my friends in zombie form. My horse, Hannah, modeled with me so I could accurately depict her as my zombie-slaying partner.
I had never illustrated anything with this level of gore before this project. I looked at a lot of special effects from television shows and movies for reference.
One can imagine that these small trinkets are trophies from the unfortunate living dead that crossed our path or mementos from departed friends and loved ones.
